::Christmas::

(Robyn Rose meets a very nice fella for the very first time)

May you get every thing you wish for, may you always believe,
and may you hold those you love close this Christmas day.

::Christmas Centerpiece::

Oooo.  Shiney.

As of yet, I've not been able to curb my appetite for brown shiney stuff this Christmas.  When I see such items, they pounce in my shopping cart, unbeknownst to my conscious, rational brain.  The hands move in perfect harmony with the eyes as the brain is like "wait, wah?"

I did manage to use a few things I already had, like the ORB sprayed former brass candlesticks and the cake plate I must've picked up (or pounced in my cart like the aforementioned brown shiney things) from TJMarshalls sometime way back.

A peek at my wee hutch (I'll post about it another day) and the tree that never looks any different year to year....and I'm ok with that.

Welcome to this year's holiday mantel.
I'll just step aside and let you look.

Hobnail milkglass, mercury glass, the usual suspects.

And pinecones.  Always with the pinecones.

Some snowified branches...some real, some wanna-bes.

Reimagined stockings from last year.
Bought them ready made from that (million)Dollar Store
and embellished with ribbon and monogrammed frames.

Just a bit of glitterfying....

IKEA lantern.

Artsy shots of the aforementioned branches all dolled up.

 And there she blows.

Interested in past holiday mantels?
Your wish is my command.

Oh yeah, and I'll be bringing my mantel to Kevin and Layla's party:

::Giving Thanks::

This will be a difficult Thanksgiving for my family as my mom will be missing....but I will give thanks for the time I had with her, and for the family that surrounds me still.  I hope you all have a warm-hearted and full-tummied day tomorrow being thankful for every good thing that has come your way this past year.

Guess what I've been dreaming and obsessing about?
THIS HOUSE.

Now let me just say right up front, I never thought I'd build another house.
Because new-builds we could afford generally aren't very attractive,
and to get the 'old house look' usually means custom.
Not anymore.

If we go forward with this, I don't want tan/beige/brown/boring.
I've been trolling Pinterest to see what a craftsman homes in blue or green might do for me.

They'd do nicely, thankyouverymuch.

::A Cottage Bathoom Redo::

Ok, so like over a year ago I posted about how I was gonna redo my main floor bathroom.

We did actually *mostly* finish it before Robyn Rose (grandbaby extraordinare) joined us in April.

(I'm just not all that sure I can do a post without adding at least ONE pic of her princessness, I do apologize)

Mostly meaning: it was again functional, but not REALLY finished.
Now, it's as finished as it's gonna get.

Here is a psuedo-collage of the hideousness before:

And now, let's peek inside....

Tada.

New hardware purchased at Target.  I sprayed the existing hinges with brushed nickel.

Painted the wee thrift stool the same color as the cabs.

Shower curtain and towels from Marshall's.

Trafficmaster vinyl floor.  Not really happy with this.  The seams are coming up.

Used the existing counter, sink and faucet.

 This has become my bathroom now, even though we have a room within our master bedroom that condescends to be a bathroom.
This newly refreshed room is right outside our bedroom door,
so I claimed it.
